Snow, snow go away...

Last snow fall of the year (i hope)...we seem to have missed the snow that Sioux Falls got yesterday! Yea! But it is still a little chilly for May!
Here are a few pictures of the last snow we had...

We took spray bottles and filled them with water and dye and "painted" the snow. The boys had a blast!

It was quite sunny, so of course we had to wear our shades! :-)

Here is our sad looking snowman. Chase kept knocking him down or taking off his rock smile or stick arms. So this is the best we could get!

Here they're "fishing" with their branches. We are ready for summer and fishing on the lake under the sun!

Here Carter is using his stick as an antler. Not really sure what animal he is, I think he said he was a deer.
Enough of this snow! Lets get some sun! Although I will admit being pregnant in this temperature isn't so bad. I might not want to be outside much in mid-July (with as big as I will be) if it is super hot!

Easter

The boys were very excited to dye and decorate eggs this year. Carter had been asking me daily, when were we finally going to do it? So yesterday we go the eggs out and boiled, dyed, colored and painted. Unfortunately, about a third ended up with cracks due to dropping or squeezing of the eggs by the artists. Overall, Carter was quite proud of his work.

Concentration...

Chase got a little marker and paint on himself during the process

A few of the finished products...

Happy birthday Brother!

In honor of my brother's birthday today, i thought i would finally put up some pictures of The weekend we spent in Sioux Fall for Afton's 2nd birthday!

This months birthday boy and last months birthday girl, and Chase.

Carter is such a little fish...he loved being in the water and going down the water slides.
Chase enjoyed it, but not as much. The water was a little too cold for him.

I have been struggling to get the camera out this month. Maybe we'll have to have a photo shoot today to occupy our "inside time". We sure are ready for springtime!

Sledding

Now that grandpa and grandma live at the lake we have some new opportunities for fun. For christmas they bought a big "sled" to pull behind the four-wheeler out on the lake. We took it out to try it one saturday and it was a hit! The boys loved it!
Thumbs up if you're having fun!
Chase all bundled up

Daddy and the boys in the sled, getting sprayed with snow by grandma driving the 4-wheeler.
So much fun. Can't wait to get the boys some hockey skates and try out ice skating
and maybe some ice fishing on the lake yet this winter!

Christmas

A little late on the christmas post, but here it is...
Chase with "big buzz". He LOVES buzz light year!

Carter with his horse barn. Two thumbs up!

Carter says, " mom take a picture of us" as he puts his arm around chase and leans in for a snuggle.

Afton and Chase trying out the new totes. They are just the right size!

Another thumbs up for the new scooter from grandpa and grandma.

We had a great christmas with lots of family time. The boys loved spending time with their cousins, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. We are very blessed!

Winter & a 4yr old!

We had our first snow of the year 2 weekends ago. Both boys wanted to be outside playing in the snow ALL day. We were out playing quite a bit.
Here is chase relaxing in the snow. Unfortunately, for all the time Carter was outside, I did not get a picture of him!
Daddy and Chase admiring Carter and I's snowman.

The weekend after the snow we had Carter's 4th birthday party. We had a super hero theme since he likes spiderman lately.
Here is Carter opening his presents. He has a blanket wrapped as a cape on himself and his stuffed dog Berkley. He is super-Carter when he has the cape on!
The cousins all were excited about the presents too. They all kept getting closer and closer. They were all almost sitting under the tree by the end.

Checking out the new target practice game from Uncle Mark and Auntie Elizabeth.

New Spiderman action figure (not a doll ;)) from Uncle Darin and Auntie April. And he's 4!!!

Chase and Afton with their matching pink pacis. Chase's paci glows in the dark and there were no blue or green ones left at the store. So that is his bedtime paci!

Thanks to The Lord of the harvest

Well, it has been a while again. Life got crazy with volleyball season and harvest going on around here. I am so thankful to live close to amazing family who help with the boys so often!

The boys love harvest! They have been playing with their tractors, grain carts, combines and other farm equipment trying to be like daddy. They also love riding in the tractor or combine with daddy (and grandma). Here are a few pictures of the boys "driving" combine with daddy.

Carter concentrating hard on driving a straight line.

Now its Chase's turn!

chase wasn't a very good driver. He kept grabbing the wheel and trying to turn it back and forth really quickly. He was pretty strong too, which made it a little difficult for Ted to keep it straight.

Everything went fairly smoothly with harvest and all Taatjes' crop is out. There is a sign right outside of town that one of the farmers put by his corn field that says, "look what the Lord has done!" on one side, and "thank you Jesus" on the other side. We are so thankful for the safe and bountiful harvest thus far!

Wisconsin dells

A few weeks ago we headed to wisconsin dells for a pork conference. While ted was at meetings the boys and i got to play in the pool all day. The weather was beautiful the whole time, our hotel was gret, and the boys had a blast. Here are a few pics from the time there:
Chase, cousin landon, and carter at the outdoor waterpark. Loving the water slides!

Carter loves cheetahs right now, so of course he picks to ride it at the carousel.

Running wild in the big climb house!

At moose jaw restaurant for dinner one night.

Mini golf! Look at that swing for mini golf! Not sure where the ball went...Carter was actually pretty good!
Ready to head home after a fun trip!

Michiganers, how bout a wisconsin dell trip next summer together? Its right in the middle!
Lets get planning!
